Hong Kong born pianist Rachel Cheung was awarded the Audience Prize as a finalist at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, hailed as “a poet, but also a dramatist” displaying “the most sophisticated and compelling music-making” (The Dallas Morning News). With “stunningly imaginative” (Musical America) interpretations marked by “flights of both beauty and virtuosity” (Theater Jones) she has already performed to greatest acclaim in the new, spectacular Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg as well as major venues in Paris, London, New York, and Toronto.
